Posted November 15, 2018 05:13:08 It’s snowing in the northern United States, but for many, it’s not the type of weather you’re accustomed to seeing.
Snow is not the only thing that’s coming down in the area, however.
The northern part of the country is also getting a bit of the cold weather in the form of a snowstorm.
“We’re going to be seeing some of the same conditions that we’ve seen in recent years, but it’s snowier,” says Bill Pappas, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Anchorage, Alaska.
He says the cold temperatures are affecting people’s spirits, but also the ground itself.
“In the wintertime, you have the ice, you get a layer of ice, and you’ve got that layer that you’re trying to protect against snow,” Pappes says.
“It’s just one layer of snow.
That’s going to bring down the air and make you feel colder.”
A few other factors have been blamed for the weather that’s sweeping across the U.S., including record snowfall, warmer than average temperatures and high winds.
It’s been a bad couple of months for snow.
In December, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recorded 5.1 inches of snow on average.
That was the second-most snowfall in a single month since record-keeping began in 1910.
The weather service is predicting another snowstorm in the next few days, with up to 4 inches of precipitation possible.
“I think we’re going through the winter with more snow,” said Jeff Carlson, a weather service meteorologist in Alaska.
“The temperatures are coming up to our normal level of temperatures, so we’re just going to have to live with it.”
A number of different types of storms are currently affecting the region, but one of the biggest ones is a blizzard that is currently affecting portions of New England.
“You’ll have a lot of people that won’t be able to leave their homes until next week because it’s going be so bad,” Carlson says.
As of this writing, New England is still in the grip of a blizzards that are now affecting up to 100,000 people, according to the National Hurricane Center.
But, snow is still a big concern for people in the region.
In fact, a recent study from the University of Maine has shown that nearly 70 per cent of people in northern New England are likely to be in an area with snowfall of at least 10 cent.
While this may not sound like a lot, it represents a big chunk of the population.
Pappans thinks the weather will remain bad, but he’s not expecting it to last much longer.
“A lot of the people in our area are already looking at the weather and saying, ‘I don’t want to get into that,'” Pappases says.
But it’s good to know that you can still find comfort in the knowledge that things are not as bad as they used to be.
“This will be the worst winter in our history.
We’re going from a really bad winter, to a really good winter,” Papps says.
