Sugar Mountain, Colorado is a town where the snow isn’t a rarity but a rarity nonetheless.
The town sits in the western part of the state.
Sugar Mountain is home to the Sugar Mountain Snowmobile Museum and is the only town in the state to have a permanent snowmobile track.
“The Snowmobile is the coolest, most beautiful and iconic snowmobile of the last century,” said Sugar Mountain resident Mike Vetter, who is the owner of Sugar Mountain Motorcycles.
Vetter has owned Sugar Mountain since 2006 and has been riding his snowmobile since 2002.
It is his passion to keep the track open and help educate people about the snowmobile.
A recent snowstorm in early March forced Sugar Mountain to close for two weeks.
In the meantime, Sugar Mountain has installed a temporary snow barrier and plans to open again next week.
There is no fee to use the track.
